Kickboxing in Norway

Kickboxing combines boxing with kicks, under rule sets such as K-1 and low kick. For most people it is the easiest way into stand-up martial arts: few rules to learn, and conditioning from the very first session.

34 clubs across 23 Norwegian towns have kickboxing on the schedule. All of them say so on their own pages — none are inferred. The clubs that publish a price sit at 299–2694 kr a month.

About the sport: Kickboxing

What an ordinary class looks like

Kickboxing is the most accessible stand-up martial art in Norway: few rules, a high heart rate, and technique you can use within weeks. Classes alternate between bag work, pads and movement, and many clubs run classes with no sparring at all.

Rule sets you will meet

K-1 allows low kicks, knees and brief clinches; low-kick rules sit close to Muay Thai; point fighting and semi-contact are about landing rather than power. A club usually trains the rule set it competes in, but the beginner class looks the same either way.

Addresses and prices are read automatically off the clubs' websites, and the organisation number is matched automatically against the Norwegian company register. All of it may be wrong, outdated, for a different class (kids, student, family), or for a different legal entity than the one running the training. The price is usually an adult membership, excluding joining fees and licences. If something here is wrong, tell us and we will fix it.

Questions about Kickboxing

Is kickboxing good for a beginner?

It is probably the easiest way into stand-up martial arts: few rules, quick progress and conditioning from the first session.

Will I be hit in the head?

Not until you choose to spar. Semi-contact and technique classes exist in most clubs, and intensity is agreed between partners.

How often should I train?

Twice a week gives clear progress in technique and fitness. Three is where most people who stick with it end up.
